Aaron Baddeley Reflects on a Good and Bad 2007

November 18, 2007 Aaron Baddeley knows everyone wants to talk about the US Open. He''s had a dream year in which he finished sixth in the inaugural FedEx Cup play-offs, 10th on the US money list and 18th in the world Rankings, yet still we won''t forget about that Oakmont disaster.

Paired with Tiger Woods, Baddeley led into the final round of the US Open but triple-bogeyed the first hole on his way to an 80.

Commentators wondered if he would recover, and fans quietly uttered the dreaded "choke" word.

But for Baddeley, who is back in Australia to play in the Mastercard Masters this week and the Australian Open next month, the fall-out has been very different. Granted, he didn''t play his A-game during the final round at Oakmont. But neither did Tiger Woods as Angel Cabrera took the title.

For the dual Australian Open winner, there are no demons.

In September, he battled Woods all the way down the back nine at the BMW Championship and came up just short as he went on to confirm his reputation as the most improved player in the world.

Baddeley says he is using the US Open as a building block, not for purposes of revenge but as confirmation he has what it takes to play against the elite.
