When it comes to golf, Argentina is dwarfed by Michigan, which has more than 900 courses and 250,000 golfers, a quarter of those with USGA handicaps. Best estimates are that 44,000 Argentines have handicaps and play the game on the nation''s 243 courses, 27 of them par-3 layouts.

The odds have always been against Angel Cabrera and Andres Romero, but that hasn''t stopped the Argentines from emerging as two of golf''s biggest surprises as the 2007 season reaches this week''s PGA Championship, the fourth and final major.
