No one mistakes Bradley Hughes’ accent for a South Carolina drawl. His speech is pure Aussie, which you would expect from a native of Melbourne and a protege of the greatest modern Australian golfer, Greg Norman.

In Hughes’ entry in the Nationwide Tour player guide, though, his residence of “Simpsonville, S.C.” leaps off the page, like a plate of grits placed next to a boomerang.

“Yeah, I get asked about that, but just a little,” Hughes said this week en route to Panama, where today he kicks off his eighth Nationwide Tour season at the Panama Movistar Championship.
