Jeff Rude’s “I Hate To Be Rude” column appears on Golfweek.com on Friday, the same day as his video show of the same name.

• Anthony Kim’s roll continues. He shot 65 in the first round of the RBC Canadian Open. Apparently all it took for the Kim Era to appear was for Tiger Woods disappear.

The emergence of a young, fearless Kim not only gives the U.S. more Ryder Cup hope (figure five matches for his five-tool game), it finally gives Woods a legitimate younger challenger upon his return.

Maybe this gets juicy.

• Next, the major championship season taps into one of golf’s great wonders. No, not Kenny Perry’s upcoming appearance at a summer major, finally. Rather, the odd fact that a European hasn’t won a PGA Championship since Tommy Armour in 1930.

That said, they couldn’t be heading to a happier setting at which to break the spell. You may recall the Euros did OK in autumn 2004 at Oakland Hills. They have champagne stains to prove it.
